“The practice book is quite helpful as it has boxes to tick as you practice. It reminds me to practice and I can document my progress there.”
“The practice book is invaluable for keeping track of what my son needs to work on between lessons to ensure that he is properly prepared each week. It’s great for understanding how he is progressing. The pre-printed hints, tips and reminders are useful as a memory jogger as he works through the book. Also, great to have a daily tick box to mark off his practice sessions each day. Altogether a very useful tool.”
“My daughter has used this practice book for 8 years and it has allowed her to develop her independent practice and learning. She specifically finds the section for goals helpful and continues to use this as she reaches the end of her grades.”
“I have always found this practice book really useful. I’ve been playing for many years and still always manage to forget exactly which areas I need to work on in my pieces. It allows me to keep track of what I’m learning, how many hours of practice I do and what my aim is for next week. My practice time would be lost without it, it’s such a useful tool."
“The practice book is such good tool in my daughters learning with all the information from the lessons set out showing what she has done and what she needs to practice. Also it provides any information we need for her next lesson. A great communication tool and excellent quality.”
“My practice book helps me remember what to practice for the week and motivates me to work towards my goals.”
“This practice book is an outstanding piece of work. It is extremely thorough, presented in a colourful and attractive way which both pupils and teachers will regard as an indispensable teaching aid.”
“The practice book is a wonderful record of our daughter’s achievements as she progresses with her recorder lessons. It’s extremely helpful in daily practice clearly defining the lesson covered and goals set for the week ahead.”
“The practise book has been a helpful tool for learning and motivation since my daughter has started playing music. It is very helpful for communication between the music teacher and pupils/parents and has useful sections for recording what has been practised in each lesson with a space to record practise between classes. The book also contains relevant music theory information as well as space to note your goals and achievements throughout the school year. I would recommend this book to both beginners and more advanced musicians for use when having music lessons.”
“Absolutely love my practice book! It really helps me keep track of the areas I need to focus on in my piano lessons. It has a section for notes on your lessons as well as a goals section which is really useful. The book is also interspersed with pages on general music theory e.g letter names of notes which is a bonus. All in all it’s a lovely design and really useful.”
“It looks like a great resource for encouraging practice whilst helping musical literacy.”
“Ah Practice, that elusive ingredient of the Instrumental Teachers' week....
Hopefully this bright, compact and robust Practice Notebook will be an excellent aide memoire to those students who appear to suffer from persistent practice amnesia? The colourful cover will either engender feelings of guilt or industry ( or both!) from your pupils, but they cannot escape its message....
The robust manufacture should avoid the inventive excuses offered as to the Practice Notebook's demise, such as ' my dog buried it' or ' the hamster chewed it up and used it as bedding' etc. The size will mean that it cannot easily disappear in the murky depths of the music bag - you cannot miss it! The Notebook is interactive, well laid out and with a great emphasis on personalisation. Whether it will become a work of fact or fiction is entirely up to the compiler. It may show an intent to practice and follow it through? Though in some cases, ' goals' could possibly include getting the instrument out of its case or
opening the lid of the piano! Hopefully the ' goals' set will require more thought and effort than the excuses given for not doing any practice.... All in all, this Practice Notebook is a welcome and valuable addition to the Instrumental Teachers tool box. I highly recommend it!"
